FEB UNY Mosque Reopened

After approximately 5 months of closure, Al Fatih Mosque was reopened and inaugurated by the Dean of FEB UNY Dr. Siswanto, M.Pd. The signing ceremony was held along with the faculty’s islamic preaching and the delivery of ZIS (Zakat, Infaq, Sedekah) to the poor. Lecturers, supporting staff, and the representatives of students and the poor who received the donation. In addition, Ustadz Drs. H. Saebani, M.A. become the speaker in the preaching session.

“This FEB’s Mosque can now be used again as a character building laboratory for moslem students of FEB UNY. Hopefully, this place gathers various potentials of FEB students and contribute to the progress of the faculty,” stated Prof. Setyabudi Indartono as the host of the event.

In his speech before signing the inauguration document, Siswanto gave a message that students could enliven this mosque. “It will be used later as the secretariat of UKMF (Student Activity Forum of Faculty) Al Fatih FEB UNY, so the hope is that it can also be a proper mosque. In addition, every prayer time, it is hoped that all services will stop for a moment and educational staff can attend prayers together  here,” he ordered.

Saebani, who is also the Chairman of MUI Bantul for 2021-2026 expressed her admiration. “This mosque is well built. It was said earlier, hopefully, it will become a place for mental and spiritual guidance for students. Because that is the purpose for which we humans were created; life is for worship,” he explained.

Ustadz, who has a humorous delivery style, reminded the audience to always remember Allah. “Nowadays, the call to prayer is eclipsed by the death announcement from the mosque. When we hear the call to prayer, we are ignorant. But when we hear the death announcement of innalilahi, we lower our voices and listen carefully. Two-thirds of human beings may fall victim to the devil’s temptation, without realizing it they become ‘hizbush shaithan’. Therefore, we must always ask Allah for protection or isti’adzah, and ask Him for help or isti’anah,” he said.

This event was closed with the distribution of Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah(ZIS) from FEB UNY to the poor. The poor were chosen from relatives or neighbors of lecturers and staff in FEB UNY.
