Since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, many educational institutions and business institutions have to adapt. Most of them have switched to online mode, where educational institutions provide online education and business institutions move employees home to work online, while some who cannot keep up with this change have been forced to reduce employees, and even close their businesses. There are indications that this online practice will remain popular even after the pandemic ends as stated by Debra Lee in her presentation.

Debra continued, in several educational institutions, the use of learning technology to facilitate e-learning has begun, so that various programs, tools, and technology platforms that were previously foreign are now widely used, such as Camtasia, Quizziz, Google Classroom, Duolingo, Udemy, etc. Various universities in the United States are now starting to build their learning development resources. According to Debra, teachers need help in adapting their learning to the use of technology, and they must also use the technology with their students. Technology must be utilized appropriately to be effective.

Under the theme “Surviving the Pandemic: Education and Business Strategic Empowerment as a Key Factor in Revitalizing National Economy”, this seminar was held in collaboration with partner universities such as B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Business School from India, then Universiti Teknologi Mara Malaysia, as well as two domestic campuses namely Wiralodra Indramayu University and Tidar University Magelang.

In his speech as one of the cohosts, Dr. A. Peer Mohamed, Vice-Chancellor of BSA Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, said that Indonesia and India have long-established brotherhood and partnership in various fields. "Innovation is one solution in overcoming various problems arising from the pandemic in various fields, including education and economic issues," he explained.

Opening this international seminar, the Chancellor of UNY, Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes. stated that it is our responsibility to save the education, the economy, and the environment to revive the pulse of the national economy as a goal of sustainable development. This seminar was moderated by FE UNY lecturers Arum Darmawati, M.M. and Mimin Nur Aisyah, M.Sc., Ak. (fdh)

ICEBESS & ACoMC 2021: Pulihkan Pendidikan dan Ekonomi dari Covid-19 Tanggung Jawab Bersama

Fakultas Ekonomi UNY menyelenggarakan International Conference on Ethics of Business, Economics, and Social Science (ICEBESS) dan sekaligus Annual Conference on Management Challenges (ACoMC) selama dua hari 15-16 Oktober 2021 lalu. Kedua seminar ini menghadirkan enam pembicara internasional dari 3 benua berbeda, yaitu Debra S. Lee (Vanderbilt University, Amerika Serikat), Prof. Dr. Ruzita Jusoh (University of Malaya, Malaysia), dan Dr. Moon Moon Hussain (B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, India) pada sesi pertama di pagi hari.

Mengambil tema “Surviving the Pandemic: Education and Business Strategic Empowerment as a Key Factor in Revitalizing National Economy”, seminar ini terselenggara dengan kerjasama dari para perguruan tinggi mitra seperti B.S.

(fdh)
